Lovingly referred to as the Ivy Pikachu by collectors for the ivy in the card's background, this card was initially the first promotional card given out by Wizards of the Coast, however somehow a limited number of these ended up in a select few 1st Edition Jungle booster boxes. Reportedly only able to be found in approximately 10% of 1st Edition Jungle booster boxes, the card does not feature the usual Jungle symbol at all on the bottom right corner of the card illustration as is the case with the normal printing of the set, but still boasts the normal black star symbol from the official printing of the card. Paradoxically the card has the 1st Edition stamp on the bottom left corner of the illustration as if it was meant to be inserted in the set, and to date it is the only black star promotional card to have a 1st Edition variant available. This in conjunction with an ad placed in the second issue of the Japanese Trainer's magazine has caused some to speculate that it was in fact meant to be a secret insert card that was canceled mid-production. Whatever the reason for its creation, it is arguably one of the most desirable error cards available, and a fantastic choice for anyone who is interested in the many oddities that plague the Wizards of the Coast era of the Pokemon Trading Card Game.
