Held from August 18 to 21, the 2022 Pokemon World Championships were held in London, England at ExCeL London, marking only the second time the world championships were held outside of the United States, and utilizing cards from base Sword & Shield onwards. Given to participants of the tournament, the standard version of the Champion’s Festival promotional card was given out in a set of seven different languages: English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian. Illustrated by Naoki Saito, the artwork showcases Sword & Shield starter Pokemon Scorbunny, Sobble, and Grookey riding the London Eye ferris wheel with Pikachu, taking in the historic sights such as Big Ben, with a Galarian Wheezing and Psyduck precariously riding a Corviknight in the background. This particular version was awarded exclusively to the top thirty-two place finishers of each category in the event, with the words top thirty-two prominently stamped on the card, making this one of the more difficult versions of the card to obtain, and a great entry point for world championship card collecting with just a little bit of a chase.
