Introduced as a special chase card for the Pokemon Trading Card Game in EX Team Rocket Returns, Gold Star cards have a pull rate of approximately only one per every two boxes, and showcase artwork of the shiny variants of the Pokemon on display. A special easter egg introduced in the Pokemon Gold & Silver videogames, shiny Pokemon had distinct color variations and dazzling entrance animations that would scatter stars all over the screen with players only having a one in 4,096 chance of even seeing one. The resulting sense of exclusivity and euphoria any time one was obtained, and jealousy whenever seeing anyone else with one, has been perfectly re-created in these cards, allowing Gold Star cards to become some of the most desirable Pokemon cards ever created. The Latios Gold Star designed by Masakazu Fukuda for the Japanese set Clash of the Blue Sky features a much more serious depiction than its Latias counterpart, making the two a fantastic pair for any collection.
