Held from August 13 to 15, the 2005 Pokemon World Championships were held in San Diego, California, and featured cards from Diamond & Pearl onwards. Given to participants of the tournament, Tropical Wind was given out in a set of seven different languages: English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian with the STAFF stamped copies only being given out to staff of the event. Illustrated by Sumiyoshi Kizuki, it is notable for being the only year Psyduck wasn’t found in its trademark hammock, the card hosts fourth generation Pokemon such as Shaymin, Bidoof, and Weavil interrupting its relaxation. A fantastic introduction for anyone looking to foray into collecting World Championship cards without breaking the bank, Tropical Wind has something for everyone.
