Long before the 2003 draft, everyone knew who would be picked number one. A recently turned 17-year-old by the name of Lebron James had already graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, accompanied by his poignant nickname: The Chosen One. In the decades since, James has more than lived up to the hype, winning four NBA Championships, four MVPs, become the league's all-time leading scorer and been a part of countless classic moments.
James' 2003-04 Topps 1st Edition rookie card looks almost identical to his iconic flagship Topps rookie card. It has the same photo and the same design. However, the 1st Edition version has a foil stamp in the top corner. It also comes from a different product, one that was meant to help kick off the season. The 1st Edition LeBron James is also more rare than the main card. While neither are numbered, the PSA registry offers an insightful look. They've graded less than 900 copies of the 1st Edition James versus almost 22,500 for the flagship rookie card.
This particular 2003-04 Topps 1st Edition LeBron James rookie card comes with the added prestige of being graded a Gem Mint PSA 10.
The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 01/08/2026.
