Once again setting the standard for ultra high-end products, the release of 2004-05 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Basketball brought together low print runs, autographs, and premium memorabilia pieces. Limited Logos remains one of the most popular sets from the Exquisite brand, and this second-year version enjoys a reduced print run, as it was downsized from /75 to just /50.
The Kobe Bryant featured here is stamped 40/50. But it's not just the shortened print run and grade that makes this such a rarity. The Black Mamba's signature intensity didn't lead to too many smiles on the court during his playing days. So this photo of him with a slight grin on his face could be cause for excitement amongst diehard collectors on its own. Of course, the stunning three-color game-worn patch and sharp 10-grade autograph don't hurt, either.
This dual-grade NM-MT PSA 8 with a PSA/DNA 10 autograph is a pop 1 in the company's census with just two copies ranking higher.
