When Panini released its 300-card 2018-19 Prizm Basketball set, collectors found several Prizm parallels to chase. But not all of them were available in the various hobby and retail packs found in card shops and big box retail chains.
With a star-studded rookie class led by Luka Dončić, the short print parallels were an immediate hit. As the third overall selection in the draft, the 19-year-old Slovenian standout became an instant star with one of the most balanced rookie seasons in history, and his production has gotten better with each passing year.
Panini distributed White Sparkle Prizms in limited-edition three-card packs exclusively available on the company’s website. Individual collectors could purchase no more than five packs per transaction, so the odds of finding a specific player from the 300-card checklist were slim (1:100 packs). Although not serial-numbered, White Sparkle cards are considered to be among the rarest parallels in 2018-19 Panini Prizm Basketball.
A testament to this, just 14 copies have earned a Gem Mint PSA 10 grade with this being one of them.
