Baseball and hot dogs have gone together for decades. It's not just as a ballpark snack. In 1954, Wilson Franks included baseball cards to help sell their hot dog wieners. The 20-card checklist features several superstars and Hall of Famers, headlined by Ted Williams.
Not only is this a gorgeous baseball card but it's exceptionally rare. Package anything with hot dog wieners and they're going to absorb grease. As a result, most copies that survive today carry some level of damage in this regard. There was also the distribution. 1954 Wilson Franks Baseball cards were limited to the Midwest.
These factors make this a grail among Ted Williams and vintage collectors as a whole. It's considered to be one of The Splendid Splinter's very best cards.
