Which trading card game (TCG) ranks as the true King of Games? Some gamers suggest that Magic: The Gathering, the progenitor of the trading card game concept, fits the bill. Others might argue that the Pokemon Trading Card Game, having the world's number-one media franchise, undoubtedly deserves such accolades. However, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game owns this title. Between 2002 and 2012, the game saw over 22 billion cards sold across the globe, dwarfing what Magic sold in double the timeframe. In comparison, while Pokemon may be the highest-grossing media franchise overall, Yu-Gi-Oh! ranks in the top 25, with nearly all its sales coming from the TCG. Originally intended as a one-off story arc for Kazuki Takahasshi's manga about a high school student possessed by the spirit of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh, the card game of Duel Monsters had such an overwhelmingly positive reception that it quickly became the focus of the story. Following series protagonist Yugi Moto on his journey to be crowned king of games, the new story's focus introduced the audience to legendary cards such as the Dark Magician, Exodia the Forbidden One, and the ultimate engine of destruction, Blue-Eyes White Dragon. The Trading Card Game gained world-renown for its robust competitive scene, with millions of players participating in tournaments around the globe. Arguably the most notorious of competitions, and an integral part of Yu-Gi-Oh! history, Konami hosted the Tokyo Dome Tournament in 1999 at the 40,000-person capacity super stadium typically held for major sporting events and rock concerts. In addition to selling out, 10,000 people waited outside the stadium, causing tournament organizers to attempt to cancel the event, which led to a riot. This fanaticism has followed the franchise for its 25-year history over multiple reboots. A constant introduction of new game mechanics meant to keep the game fresh for new generations has succeeded, resulting in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game posting impressive sales for parent company Konami year-over-year. The set that helped launch Yu-Gi-Oh! to become a worldwide phenomena, the North American English 1st Edition printing of Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon holds a special place in the hearts of many collectors. Released alongside the English version of the hit animated TV show and the English release of the manga, this inaugural set brought the card game from these mediums to life. Comparable to Pokémon's 1st Edition Base Set release, Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon's impact on the franchise cannot be understated. The featured collection exists as one of less than 10 known PSA 10 sets featuring all 126 cards in the set known to have ever been assembled by a collector. A fantastic collection that will be more difficult to piece together as the years go by, this is the first time that any such set has been made available to the public. An incredible offering of the premier set from the world's best-selling TCG, this 1st Edition Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon registry set will instantly put the winner in contention for the title of King of Games.
