On senior day at Carver-Hawkeye Arena at the University of Iowa, Caitlin Clark surpassed Pete Maravich as the all-time leading scorer among Division I men’s or women’s basketball players. After sinking two technical free throws with 0.3 seconds to play in the first half, Clark surpassed Maravich’s 1970 record of 3,667 career points. “Honestly, if you would have told me (this would happen) before my college career started,” Clark said. “I would’ve laughed in your face and been like, ‘No, you’re insane.’” Clark, the first Division I women’s player with career totals of 3,000+ points and 1,000+ assists, has declared for this year’s WNBA Draft and is expected to be taken first overall by the Indiana Fever in April. The West Des Moines native burst onto the scene by leading the nation in scoring as a freshman and later led Iowa to the program’s first Final Four and championship game appearances in 2023—becoming one of most well-known women’s players of all time in the process. With her prolific profile, Topps ensured she became a focal point of the 2022-23 Bowman University basketball set, the first licensed college basketball offering from the brand. In addition to her “1st Bowman” rookie card, Clark appears in several inserts, including the Prime Chrome Signatures set. The 30-card checklist has two parallels—a /25 Orange Refractor and a 1/1 Superfractor—and Clark’s one-of-a-kind offering earned a PSA 9 Auto 10 designation. At 21, Clark has already transcended women’s basketball, serving as an inspiration to a wide swath of fans. “Honestly, I just look around and I get to play in an arena full of little kids, a lot of little girls who admire our team,” Clark said. “A lot of fans that are here at 8 p.m. on a Tuesday night in the beginning of January. That’s rare for women’s basketball, but it’s becoming the norm. It kind of brings a little tear to my eye. I’m just grateful to play in a place that loves women’s basketball, supports women’s basketball." The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 2/26/2024.
