In 2018, Topps decided to transform their traditional Transcendent Baseball release by adding a second set made exclusively for the Asian market. The 50-card base set features just two players, Ohtani and Ichiro, with Ohtani featured on 30 of them. Each base card is /50, though that print run diminishes greatly when it comes to the Transcendent Collection Autographs of the cards. They have a base /5 print run as well as three parallels: Emerald /3, Platinum 1/1, and Red 1/1.
This Platinum 1/1 autograph version of card #2 in the checklist commemorates Shotime’s Spring Training pitching debut. Extremely rare to find in the U.S. market, this Ohtani transcends many of his other early offerings.
Graded a Gem Mint BGS 9.5, subgrades include 10 for Corners and Surface, and 9.5 for Centering. The autograph has been assessed a 10.
