Tom Brady’s 2021 Absolute Kaboom Green card has a storied history. In 2013, Panini Creative Director Brandon Lesley contacted Hungarian illustrator Gyula Nemeth to draw the NBA players selected for a 20-card insert for Panini’s Innovation Basketball set. Nemeth responded by creating one of the most unforgettable card series in industry history, the stunning pop art collection known as Kaboom cards. Nemeth portrayed the players as comic book characters. A combination of scarcity, unique typography, original illustrations, and high-flying dunking poses featured on each card in the series made it an instant classic. The details in Nemeth’s illustrations add significant appeal from the facial features and color schemes to the chiseled muscles. Panini created their first Absolute Kaboom football cards in 2019. Their similar aesthetics, scarcity, and hard-to-pull nature made them highly collectible. In 2021, Panini selected 49 of the best players from the league past and present to represent the season's set. The checklist actually has 50 cards as Brady has two cards—this one as a Buccaneer and another with the Patriots. In addition to their base versions, Panini included /10 Gold parallels like this one into the mix, adding further rarity and prestige to already iconic inserts. This is the bookend 10/10 copy.
