X-Fractors, first produced in baseball and football in 2001, place the reflective Refractor effect throughout a checkboard pattern across the front of the card in an enhanced design reminiscent of late 1990s Atomic Refractors. The technology first appeared in basketball sets, namely on Topps Chrome and Bowman Chrome cards, during LeBron’s rookie year.
Unlike the standalone 2003 Topps Chrome release, the company chose to produce Bowman Chrome cards as parallels of the base “paper” Bowman basketball set. Those Chrome cards were then covered in parallels, the middle of which from a rarity perspective was the X-Fractor /150 version. Only five BGS-assessed examples of this card have earned a higher grade than the 9.5 stamped 134/150 on offer here.
The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 11/8/2024.
