The Skyridge set marked a pivotal point in Pokémon history. Skyridge was the third and final expansion of the “e-card series”. E-cards, also known as e-reader cards, were special trading cards that worked with the Nintendo e-Reader peripheral for the Game Boy Advance. By swiping the barcode on the card through the e-Reader, players could unlock various in-game content in compatible Pokémon games. In addition, Skyridge was also the last set printed by Wizards of the Coast before they lost their license to produce Pokémon cards. The end of that license resulted in only a single print run of Skyridge cards, making them cards extremely sought after to this day. This Umbreon, illustrated by Atsuko Nishida, is one of the most beloved artworks of Umbreon in the character’s history and remains one of the jewels of the storied Skyridge set.
