Pat Tillman is a hero in the truest sense. In 2002, he walked away from his NFL career as a safety with the Arizona Cardinals—and a multi-million dollar contract offer—to sign up for military service. Shaken by the horrific events of 9-11, he was moved to do his part. Tillman went on to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan before being killed in atragic accident in 2004.
In the decades since, he has been celebrated and memorialized on a variety of football cards including this 2025 Panini Black Football Manga. Drawn by BBKei, the super short printed insert uses the Japanese comic style to pay tribute to Tillman as a Captain America-like superhero.
Over the past couple of years, Manga has become one of Panini's cornerstone inserts thanks in large part to its shift in portraying players with a lot more personality and comic flair. The set now ranks alongside SSP inserts like Kaboom!, Downtown and Color Blast.
Although this card has not received a numerical grade, it has been authenticated by CGC.
