1996-97 E-X2000 Basketball is a groundbreaking release in a lot of ways. It started with the base set that combined foil and acetate, creating a sets that's both unique and condition sensitive. The checklist also includes several premium chase sets that were on the cutting edge of technology. Net Assets is among the most striking. Not only did these cards use a basketball net as the inspiration for its layout, but they attempted to recreate them using precision cutting. In the mid 1990s, die-cut cards were becoming more common. However, it was usually an edge or too and nothing too intricate. Net Assets have this along the top but they go even further, cutting out the inside of the net including several edges that are close together. Cards in the 20-card set land 1:20 packs. That makes the odds of getting any given player, such as Michael Jordan, 1:400 packs for the premium release. With the finely cut edges, 1996-97 E-X2000 Net Assets were very easy to damage. The fine cuts cand lead to chipping or paper loss. The intricate top edge is susceptible to nicks even when simply sleeving the card, making this impeccable Gem Mint PSA 10 all the more impressive. The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 02/09/2026.
