2001-02 Upper Deck Basketball marked the tenth anniversary of the flagship line. To help commemorate this—as well as add some premier signatures to the mix—the company included buyback autographs randomly into packs. These were original Upper Deck cards from the past that were signed after. No player made an impact on the company more than Michael Jordan, one of their earliest spokesmen.
This 1/1 buyback autograph uses MJ's 1998-99 Upper Deck card as the foundation. In case an on-card autograph from His Airness wasn't enough, there is additional history with this card. The photo comes from Game 4 of the 1998 NBA Finals. Four days later, the Bulls would wrap up their second three-peat and Jordan would play in his last game with the team.
Accompanying this card is a certificate of authenticity from Upper Deck. Both it and the card have matching security holograms.
The autograph card comes graded a Mint BGS 9 with a 10 autograph.
The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 05/28/2026.
