From 1983-86, Star released multiple basketball sets, including its inaugural 1983 All-Star set from the 1982-83 season, which features the first Isiah Thomas card. The 1984 Star set includes three Michael Jordan cards highlighting his accomplishments: Collegiate Record (#101 red border), Olympic Performance Gold Medalist (#195 red border), and Rookie of the Year Award (#288 blue border). Cards #195 and #288 came in the same Olympic Highlights set bag.
Jordan began playing with the Bulls in the 1984-85 season, and his most iconic rookie card is the ‘86 Fleer. But his 1984 Star issues provide an earlier entry point into the legend’s career. The production run on these cards was low, as basketball cards were less popular then.
Just 18 copies of this card have a higher grade in the PSA registry than this NM 7.
