1998 Metal Universe Football tweaked its parallels a little, adding 1/1s for the first time. In 1997, base cards had 100 total Precious Metal Gems, 10 Green and 90 Red. This time around, PMGs had just one version. However, they're even more rare with just 50 copies. New in the mix are Gem Masters, taking rarity to the ultimate level.
They represent some of the earliest 1/1 football cards and, understandably, have been holes on many personal want lists over the years, particularly for collectors looking to build super collections of their favorite players. Hall of Famers, such as Deion Sanders, bring even more interest. Pictured as a member of the Dallas Cowboys, Sanders has remained an influential personality through both broadcasting and coaching.
