Topps began producing Champions League cards in 2015 but did not introduce its Chrome brand to one of the world’s most popular cup competitions until 2017-18. That happened to coincide with the first season electric winger Kylian Mbappé flashed his skills in the continental competition for Paris Saint-Germain. The French phenom had shown what he was capable of in the previous campaign, lighting up the 2016-17 tournament with Monaco by scoring six goals – all in knockout-stage matches – while helping the side reach the semi-finals. Already in the top 10 scorers in UCL history, Mbappe looks primed to continue his assault on the record books with Real Madrid.
Topps Chrome UCL stormed into the hobby with that 2017-18 debut, bringing 99 cards and a slate of eight Refractors with it. Only four parallels offer more scarcity than Mbappé’s Green Refractor rookie, making it one of his most treasured cards.
