Existing at the intersection of a bobblehead doll and a baseball card, 1967 Topps Stand-Up proofs are ghosts, rarely appearing for public sale. It’s generally believed that Topps developed a 24-card ‘67 Stand-Up set but did not actually release the product, instead relegating it to a long line of that decade’s oddities alongside 1964 Topps Giants and 1968 Topps 3-D cards. The key difference with the ‘67 Stand-Up set is that those other two sets did see limited distribution. These cards, made to be punched out and stood up for display, did not. As such, there are only a handful of known examples of each, including this Pete Rose, whether in full form or proof. This is one of only two examples of the Rose proof assessed by PSA.
