The 2003-04 Upper Deck Finite Basketball base set is one of the toughest ever produced. Consisting of 342 cards, every one is serial numbered. But those print runs vary greatly. Some have as many as 2,999 copies while others have just 50. This First Class Michael Jordan is one of those short prints. Numbered 44/50, that would be enough to rank it among his rarer parallels. But this is a base card. That's less than half the production run of his rarest Upper Deck Exquisite Collection NBA base card, which is numbered /125.

This particular copy is hand-numbered 44/50 instead of the usual machine numbering. This is likely because it was a replacement copy for a collector who sent in a damaged card. It was Upper Deck's practice at the time to issue a new one and destroy the original.
Graded a Gem Mint 10, it's a pop 1 in the PSA census.
