From 1984-86, Star released five basketball player sets, including a 10-card set of Michael Jordan. The set highlighted Jordan’s accomplishments, including his college stats, pro stats, Olympic performance, Rookie of the Year award, NBA regular season record, and All-Star appearance. The bottom of the front of each card also explains its purpose. This attractive ‘86 offering is Jordan’s Pro Stats card, which documents his numbers from his 1984-85 ROY season and his 1985-86 campaign that was shortened by a foot injury.
The production run on these cards was low, as basketball collecting was less popular at the time. And they were distributed in polybags, leading to many of the cards incurring damage. With Star cards’ standing as some of the earliest pro printings of Jordan’s career and it being difficult to find high-quality copies, examples such as this offering are intriguing targets for collectors.
But historical significance and a strong grade aren’t all this card has going for it. The addition of a BAS Authentic signature in glorious gold ink only adds to the allure of this marvelous M.J.
The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 05/05/2026.
