After enduring a shortened 2011-2012 season due to a five-month lockout that delayed the start of the campaign, NBA fans were eager for card sets full of hardcourt heroes. The 2011 Panini Preferred product treated collectors to an all-hits no-filler high-end product, with print runs of signed issues in the release topping out at /99. With three autos and one relic-packed booklet per four-card box, there were plenty of stunning specimens to be found. One such printing was the Silhouettes insert series brought over from Crown Royale. Arguably the finest looking insert in the product, the cards offered a jumbo game-worn patch behind a die-cut image, all of which pop off of the card’s white background. This BGS 9 Kobe Bryant example stamped 02/10 superbly showcases these attributes and finishes off with a deep, 10-grade autograph.
