Trophy cards have carved out an illustrious place in trading card game (TCG) history. Some of the most beloved and revered Pokémon cards ever printed were distributed at tournaments. Yu-Gi-Oh! players still get nostalgic shivers when they see the Shonen Jump Cyber-Stein or Des Voltsgalph in all their glory. So it was only right that One Piece players and collectors started getting in on the action. The One Piece TCG debuted in Japan in July 2022 as part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of the beloved franchise. As it’s grown in popularity, so too have One Piece tournaments and their associated trophy cards. One such trophy card is this Japanese Flagship Battle Shanks #OP01-120. The second serial-numbered trophy card in One Piece history, this now-famous printing showcases the leader of the Red Hair Pirates and has been awarded to Flagship Battle winners, as well as some Regional tournament victors, in 2023 and 2024. The English version of the card is /1000, while this For Asia version is /1065, and a For Japan version is /1600. Of the 43 examples of this card graded by BGS, only two have earned the revered BGS 10 Black Label holder. It also holds MBA Black Diamond status, cementing its virtually flawless credentials and making it arguably the finest known example of this card.
