Bowman upped the ante for NFL rookie card collectors in 2000. Once every 76 packs, collectors uncovered a foil-stamped Rookie of the Year contest card. If the player depicted on the front won Offensive or Defensive Rookie of the Year honors for the 2000 season, collectors could redeem the contest card for a special 25-card All-Rookie Team insert set. Winning contest cards featured either Broncos running back Mike Anderson or Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher.
Even though they likely have the smallest number of unredeemed contest cards on the market today thanks to collectors sending them in, the most popular offering among the 75 contest cards belongs to Tom Brady. As a sixth-round draft pick, Brady only saw action for one series as a rookie, so he never sniffed a chance at Rookie of the Year honors, but over the next 22 seasons, he won seven Super Bowls and established himself as, arguably, the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.
Although an exact print run of the contest cards is not known, the number of cards graded compared to the base rookie card gives a strong indication. While PSA has graded the 2000 Bowman Tom Brady more than 9,650 times, they have assessed just 44 total ROY Promotion cards. This Gem Mint 10 is a pop 17.
The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 06/03/2026.
