In 1953, Topps manufactured its first Satchel Paige card. It does not disappoint. This issue shows an appealing lithograph of the former Negro league star in his St. Louis Browns uniform. The flip side mentions his remarkable 12-inning shutout in 1952. Remarkably, he made the All-Star team in his mid-40s in 1952 and 1953 after dizzying hitters at the plate as a reliever and starting pitcher.
