Topps introduced its Refractor technology to basketball card collectors in 1993-94, placing the reflective rainbow coating across the 220-card Finest base set. It was one of the industry's early parallels. A decade later, that technology was applied to one of the most famous Finest Basketball rookie cards ever produced.
2003-04 Topps Finest has several strong rookie cards thanks to the year's iconic draft class. But none are bigger than LeBron James. Touted as a generational talent at the time, he managed to exceed those expectations and transformed into an NBA legend. His Refractor parallel in the boldly designed set is extremely limited, numbered /250. Topps had just started doing this with Finest's standard Refractors the previous season. In doing so, they took out speculation on print runs and ensured their rarity.
