In 2013, Panini Creative Director Brandon Lesley contacted Hungarian illustrator Gyula Nemeth to draw the NBA players selected for a 20-card insert for Panini’s Innovation basketball set. Nemeth responded by creating one of the most unforgettable card series in industry history, the stunning pop art collection known as Kaboom! cards.
The inserts shifted to Panini Excalibur the following year, but this Kaboom! Kobe Bryant has all the explosive elements the immensely popular insert is known for. Presenting the Lakers legend like an intense superhero, the foil card also comes with the signature explosive background.
This is one of the earlier Bryant Kabooms!, his second out of six. Graded a Gem Mint 9.5 by BGS, it has 9.5 subgrades for Centering, Surface and Corners.
