There might not be enough superlatives to describe this Shohei Ohtani card from 2025 Topps Sterling Baseball. At its most basic, it's an autographed bat barrel card. Dig in just a little more than there are several other things that make this unique like Ohtani's talents.
Any autograph from the three-time (soon to be four?) MVP makes for a highly coveted card. However, the Japanese superstar has only signed a very small number of his MLB cards in Kanji. This is one of them. The two-way Dodgers superstar signed it in bold blue ink with each character displaying clearly.
The bat barrel is also in Kanji. This makes it the first of its kind, with both an autograph and bat barrel in the Japanese script.
The 1/1 tells even more of a story. The bat piece includes the MLB Authentication hologram that tracks it back to its origins. Ohtani used the bat on September 25, 2020. Oddly enough, it was against his current team, the Dodgers. Pinch hitting for Elliot Soto in the ninth, Ohtani struck out facing Kenley Jansen.
