With its unique designs by legendary artists and engaging storytelling and lore orchestrated within the manga and video games, Pokemon established itself as a franchise for the ages. In 2009, the publishing house Shogakukan hosted the Pokemon Japanese Design Contest, inviting Pokemon fans into their design world. The first contest held since 1998, it focused on the baby form of the well-loved electric Mouse Pokemon Pikachu and the Pokemon accredited with the creation of life within Pokemon Mythos known as Arceus. After a three-month submission period, each publishing partner selected a winning design and awarded the illustrator 100 examples of their design on a Pokémon card. Winners received between 1-13 complete sets of cards depicting all the winning designs. This card features the winning design chosen by the publishing group Pucchigumi. This version of the beloved Spikey-eared Pichu shows the happy mouse Pokemon gleefully playing in a garden alongside its friends Jigglypuff, Roselia, and Budew.
The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 11/30/2023.
