Filling a void after several years without a nationally distributed, widely available basketball card set, Fleer hoped its first hoops release in 25 years would put the company at the forefront of the industry. Though sales did not meet expectations in 1986-87 despite a checklist full of superstars and rookie cards, time has pushed the set to iconic status in the industry.

The signature on this particular copy sets itself apart from most other autographed 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan cards thanks to its regal gold ink. Most of its counterparts are in blue or black.
