In 2017, Panini made it tougher for prospectors to land XRCs of players slated for the then-upcoming 2018 NFL Draft. In the 2016 edition of the product, Panini included an XRC redemption in every box. But those odds got longer for the 2017 release, with XRC redemptions landing just once in every four boxes. The 20-card XRC set ended up including five players each from the tight end, running back, wide receiver, and quarterback positions. Despite draft pundits suggesting Lamar Jackson had a better chance of excelling in the NFL one of those first two positions, the two-time MVP joined Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, and Josh Rosen in the signal-callers portion of the checklist. Making those who questioned his QB ability look foolish, Jackson has become the cream of the 2017 Panini XRC crop, which makes this Black 1/1 parallel the best XRC redemption pull from the product.
