Shohei Ohtani has turned in several performances worthy of being considered the greatest single baseball game of all-time. But when numbers and importance are taken into account, Ohtani's best game may have come in Game 4 of the 2025 NLCS. With the Dodgers in a position to sweep Milwaukee, Ohtani took to the mound to start. He ended up giving just two hits and no runs in six innings of work, striking out 10 along the way.
Great game for a pitcher. But Ohtani was also leading off for Los Angeles. At the plate, he went 3-3. All three hits were home runs.
The Dodgers won and advanced to the World Series where they would end up beating the Toronto Blue Jays. Not surprisingly, Ohtani was named NLCS MVP.
This 2025 Topps Now Relic Red has some history taken directly from that game—a piece of a baseball used in the match-up, complete with seams. The MLB Authentication hologram traces it to an exact moment—a 97.8 four-seam fastball from Ohtani to Brice Turang in the top of the 1st inning. Turang fouled it off and the count was 2-2.
