Few cards hold the importance and desirability of inaugural Japanese Tropical Mega Battle trophy cards thanks to the competition in which they were distributed and just how difficult they were to obtain. The '99 Mega Battle Tournament consisted of seven tournaments in Japan split by player level. Winners earned an invitation to the finals in Hawaii, which would go on to be considered the first Pokémon world championship. The top three players from each region were awarded trainer cards showcasing Exeggutor, the de facto mascot of the tournament thanks to its tropical appearance. Only seven of these No. 3 Trainer cards have been assessed by PSA. This one, earned by a player who finished third in the Sapporo region, is one of only three to earn a PSA 9, and there's just one graded higher.
