Despite winning Super Bowl LIII, Tom Brady did not have a great 2018 season—or, at least, that is what some might tell you. The Patriots’ 13-3 Super Bowl win over the Rams was anticlimactic, and TB12 threw 11 interceptions during the regular season for the first time since 2013 while posting his lowest QBR since 2014. But if you take in the season as a whole, Brady once again had a record-breaking year. In Week 5, Tom Terrific hit Josh Gordon on a 34-yard scoring strike, becoming just the third quarterback in NFL history to throw 500 career touchdown passes. With the score, Brady had also thrown a touchdown to 71 different receivers, breaking Vinny Testaverde’s mark from 2007. In Week 15, TB12 became the fourth quarterback to accumulate 70,000 career passing yards, and with a win over the Buffalo Bills a week later he helped the Patriots clinch the AFC East for the 10th consecutive season and for the 16th time in 18 years. From a statistical standpoint, Brady was second in the league in big-time throw percentage on third down (12.1), trailing only that year’s MVP Patrick Mahomes (12.9). Big-time throws are defined by Pro Football Focus as “A pass with excellent ball location and timing, generally thrown further down the field and/or into a tighter window,” meaning that 12.1% of Brady’s best throws on the season came during the most important moments of games. Even a “down” year for Tom Brady is legendary by most quarterbacks’ standards, though this 2018 Panini Kaboom could never be off its game. Unlike the Kaboom inserts found in recent Absolute releases, those from 2018 were exclusive to the Panini Rewards program, meaning they were produced in extremely limited quantities and only available during a short offering window. The 2018 Kaboom set featured a 50-card checklist that covered subjects from multiple sports, and this was also the first year that Kaboom parallels were introduced. This Gold /10 was second only to the Green 1/1 in terms of its scarcity, making it one of the rarest Tom Brady cards released that year. With a PSA population of three and only three examples graded higher, this PSA 9 example is truly big time. The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 04/01/2026.
