Today, one-of-a-kind cards are an expectation in virtually every new product. When 1998-99 Fleer Ultra Basketball hit shelves, the concept was still in its infancy and limited to only a handful of releases. With rare late '90s basketball parallels rising to prominence, few hit the mark like Ultra Masterpieces. 1998-99 marked the second year for these 1/1 parallels. Now add one of the era's most iconic players and it's easy to see what makes this card so special.
The serial number on the back makes a statement, ""The Only 1 of 1 Masterpiece Edition."" Making an equally bold statement on the front with Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal in the spotlight, throwing down a powerful dunk. Utah's Byron Russell is left watching. In the process, he's the only thing that's not powerful about this literal Masterpiece.
