Jackie Robinson’s cardboard career is full of astounding cards exhibiting a gorgeous portrait of the on- and off-field legend. This 1949 Bowman #50, his first card from the venerable manufacturer, ranks near the top of the list with many vintage collectors. Robinson’s megawatt smile and that vibrant red background combine to create one of the most recognizable printings of the era. The back of the card features a bio on Robinson’s early career achievements and an offer for a baseball ring. For collectors still interested in acquiring the ring, the offer for 15 cents and three baseball wrappers expired in 1949. Fortunately, interest in this card will likely never expire, with plenty of bidders likely to take a run at adding this beautiful Jackie to their collection. Only 19 of 1,768 (about 1%) non-Qualified examples of this card assessed by PSA have earned a higher grade than this offering’s PSA 8.
