The 2001 Pokémon Japanese Expedition 1st Edition Holo Mew #119 was officially released in Japan on December 1, 2001. It was part of the landmark Base Expansion Pack (officially known as Expansion Pack Vol.1), which kicked off the highly collectible e-Card Era.
This set introduced a radical card redesign featuring thick left and bottom borders. These borders contained dot-code strips designed to be scanned by the Game Boy Advance Nintendo e-Reader peripheral to unlock mini-games, hidden Pokédex data, and special trainer battles. This remains one of the most popular and difficult-to-find Mews in the world.
