With its 2014 Prizm World Cup set, Panini brought its staple chromium product and its parallels to the pitch for the first time. The release was immensely popular, showcasing a hunger for soccer cards that remains today. Eight years later, as interest in the sport had continued to grow, so, too, had the number of parallel versions of the Prizm World Cup base set. And while a Breakaway Black 1/1 and Gold Power 1/1 were also included in the 2022 release, neither tends to hold the gravity of the true Black Prizm 1/1.
And just as few issues in collecting measure up to a Black Prizm 1/1, few players in the sport's history have made as much of an impact as Cristiano Ronaldo, especially on the international stage. Since making his senior team debut for Portugal in 2003, the Portuguese captain has banged in a world-record 130 international goals. And there are sure to be plenty of collectors whose goal will be to secure this 1/1 issue of CR7.
