2001 was, arguably, the biggest year ever for golf cards. Upper Deck released a pair of products that were primarily driven by the first mainstream Tiger Woods cards. While 2001 Upper Deck Golf offered an accessible flagship introduction, 2001 SP Authentic Golf offered more chase elements, including more Tiger Woods autographs.
While 2001 SP Authentic Sign of the Times autographs surfaced at 1:12 packs, the product also featured separate Red parallels that solely focused on Woods and his biggest accomplishments up to that point. Each card in this seven-card set has a different print run, with this /65 issue celebrating the golf icon’s dominant Augusta win.
It was Woods' second Masters win. It also completed the Tiger Slam with Woods winning all four majors consecutively, albeit over the span of two separate years.
