2013 Icons Messi Limited Collection includes some of the earliest Lionel Messi autograph cards. It's a rare release that doesn't show up often. However, its importance is tremendous.
Autographs were case hits in the product, appearing just once in every 20-box case. This particular card commemorates Messi's goal in the 2009 UEFA Champions League final. Barcelona's second of the match, it helped seal a 2-0 victory over Manchest United. It was the second of four Champions League championships Messi won with the team, although it was his first time winning as an active player in the final.
The set was designed around the superstar while he was wrapping up the first half of his career. This is one of five different autographs on the Limited Autographs checklist. Besides the memorable celebratory photo, it includes a large blue ink autograph that showcases his classic penmanship. Graded a Gem Mint 10, it's a pop 3 in the PSA registry.
