Don Drysdale was one of the best pitchers of the 1960s. A three-time World Series Champion with the Dodgers, nine-time All-Star and 1962 National League Cy Young winner, his fearless and intimidating style made him dominant on the mound. The Hall of Famer's star power led to numerous television apearances ranging from game shows to classic sitcoms like The Brady Bunch and Beverly Hillbillies. After his MLB career came to a close, Drysdale continued with the Dodgers as a broadcaster.
His rookie card is a part of 1957 Topps Baseball, a set that's notable for being the company's first to use full color photographs. Finding a top-condition copy of the Dodgers legend's baseball card debut is extremely tough with centering, particularly on the back, being a major culprit. Of the more than 5,500 times that PSA has assessed the card, just 20 have received a Mint 9 grade with none higher. That's a rate of 0.36%. SGC and Beckett have graded Drysdale's 1957 Topps more than 2,600 times combined with each awarding a single Mint 9. This card has also earned Fanatics Collect–S Eye Appeal designation. Simply put, this is one of the single best copies of one of the top rookie cards of the 1950s.
The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 02/25/2026.
