After establishing the 50/50 Club and capturing his third MVP, Shohei Ohtani showed on the field, once again, in 2024 why he’s such a popular player in the secondary market. How does one follow that up? Another stellar season at the plate and on the mound resulted in his fourth MVP award and his second straight World Series title. And while any Ohtani auto is worthy of recognition, those from his rookie year featuring a Kanji signature are elevated above most others in the eyes of collectors.
2018 UD Goodwin Champions featured several Ohtani Kanji autos, but this, surprisingly, wasn’t one of them. This issue was actually manufactured the following year as part of the 2019 Goodwin Champions release. One of six cards on the 2018 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions Updates checklist that came out the following year, this Ohtani provides another opportunity for early-career Kanji collecting with a sharp 10-grade signature.
