In the late ‘90s, Upper Deck made one of its most lasting contributions to the card collecting industry when the company introduced its Game Jersey sets that featured game-used swatches from some of the biggest stars in sports. These early expeditions into the game-used gear world remain some of the most sought-after cards of hobby heroes, none of whom loom larger with collectors than Michael Jordan.
Following up its first edition of M.J. Game Jersey cards in 1997, which included His Airness’ signature alongside the prized jersey swatch, Upper Deck returned the following year with another stunning selection. Six Michael Jordan Game Jersey Autographs were seeded throughout six of the company’s 1998-99 releases – Series 1 and Series 2 of its flagship product, Ovation, SPx Finite, MJx, and Michael Jordan - Living Legend. Each included a piece of game-worn Bulls jersey from the 1992-93 season during which the Bulls capped off their first three-peat. Jordan also hand-signed and hand-numbered the cards.
The 23 copies of this card, #GJA2, were randomly inserted into packs of 1998-99 Upper Deck Basketball.
