Fleer made a triumphant return to the basketball card industry in 1986 with hopes of capitalizing on the NBA’s blossoming popularity while also filling a void in the market created when Topps stopped producing basketball sets after its 1981 edition. Fleer promised its new 132-card set would feature “the players kids and collectors want most” and shipped the cards from its Philadelphia headquarters across the country. In addition to the iconic base set, there was also the product's Stickers.
Because Jordan had already established his star status by that point, Fleer’s curators likely had few reservations about including him on the checklist for the one-per-pack Sticker inserts after he single-handedly turned the Bulls into a playoff team during his rookie season and then averaged more than 40 points per game in the postseason the following year. Many Stickers became affixed to school binders, bed posts, or walls. Some saavy collectors got them signed instead.
This autographed 1986-87 Fleer Basketball Michael Jordan sticker carries a Mint BGS 9 card grade with a stunning 10 assessment for the signature. This card has also earned Fanatics Collect A Eye Appeal designation.
The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 05/12/2026.
