The 1996-97 Topps Kobe Bryant is one of his most important rookie cards. Part of the season's flagship release, it connects it to a storied basketball card history dating back to the early days of the NBA. It also happened to coincide with the league's 50th anniversary. To commemorate the milestone, Topps included NBA 50th parallels for the product. These are the only 1996-97 Topps Basketball parallels which added a foil front. Included at a rate of 1:3 packs, all 110 Series 2 cards have one of these. That makes it 1:330 pack odds to land Bryant or any specific player. But that's only part of the story. The foil stock makes landing a top-condition copy extremely tough.
