After exploding in popularity on the gridiron and the hardwood, the now-iconic Precious Metal Gems parallel made its way to the diamond in the 1998 Metal Universe release. And while basketball and football collectors had a shot at triple-digit print runs in the years prior, baseball fans were treated to a tougher chase, with each PMG carrying a print run of just /50.
Few players of his generation attract as much interest as Barry Bonds, making this one of the most coveted cards from the initial PMG baseball foray. As with other PMG issues across sports, the full-foil fronts make finding quality copies difficult. As such, this Pop.5 PSA 7 with only three graded higher by the service is certainly a treasure worth mining in this month's Premier Auction.
The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 1/6/2025.
