When it comes to 2000 sets, Brady has more parallels (63) than rookie cards (44), and among those parallels, 54 are sequentially numbered with production figures as low as 1/1 to as high as /2000. Outside of his four 1/1 rookie parallels, only six others offer more scarcity than Brady’s 2000 E-X /25 Essential Credentials Future rookie. The E-X brand has roots in the baseball and basketball card industries, starting as SkyBox E-Motion before transforming into E-XL. The line then went through a redesign and came across all three sports as E-X2000, E-X2001, and E-X Century between 1997 and ’99. The intricate designs combined plastic card stocks, foils, and other materials stacked in layers, and when combined with the popular serial-numbered Credentials parallels from those years, the product rose toward the forefront of the industry.
Fleer simplified the design for 2000 E-X, but the cards maintained a clean aesthetic with a background including the primary colors of a player’s team on either side of a twisting design across the middle. For the 2000 Essential Credentials parallel, Fleer capped production for veterans at 50 and gave the cards a red hue, while rookies have only 25 cards and a blazing blue finish. That aesthetic helps Brady’s image pop off the card, making him stand out much like this card does amongst many of his other rookies.
