In an All-Star Game conspicuous for its lack of defensive intensity, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander took exception to LeBron choosing to block his dunk. Shai expressed his dissatisfaction in directly: “I got something for that next time though.” Perhaps Lebron held a grudge against Shai and the Thunder for beating the Lakers on LeBron’s record-setting night. Whatever the reason, Shai’s promise of revenge demonstrates an unusual but well-earned confidence. Voted to his first All-Star Game, Shai is averaging a career-high 30.8 PPG on over 50% shooting. Factoring in his 5.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game, many felt the 24-year-old deserved to be an All-Star starter. Drafted 11th overall, the 6-6 Canadian-born combo guard out of Kentucky can do a bit of everything. His exceptional play has helped the Thunder stay competitive, even though they are still a work in progress. With Josh Giddey emerging as a star, Chad Holmgren in the wings, and a plethora of stockpiled draft picks, Sam Presti is creating a powerhouse for years to come. And clearly, Shai will be the centerpiece. Correction: Shai is the centerpiece. Many believe he is in the running for Most Improved Player, and some have even ventured to throw him into the MVP conversation. While that may be a few years off, a strong close to the season might earn him some All-NBA votes. If nothing else, SGA’s fiery response to Lebron will have the Association looking forward to the rematch. The 2018 NT Logoman RPA is a fiery card. The SGC 9 boasts a gorgeous on-card Auto 10 signature to compliment the prized patch. This issue is a true 1/1 and will have the growing population of Shai collectors looking forward to his delivering more than revenge on LeBron. With Shai’s image mirroring the Logoman patch, this issue features a gorgeous combination of red, white, and blue colors from his early Clipper days. If the Thunder become more formidable in the seasons to come, Shai will be a big reason why. Collectors have been casting their votes for Shai graduating into elite superstardom. If that promise comes true, a card of this magnitude is unlikely to be blocked by LeBron or anyone else. As the hammer drops on this critical asset, the winner will likely show the same edge that Shai showed toward LeBron. In this case, the promise of revenge will be winning this slam dunk card of a quickly rising superstar.
